| The R.E. Darling
Company was
founded in Bethesda, MD in 1948 as a manufacturer of aviation life support hoses
and precision molded rubber products for military and commercial markets. In 1960 the
company opened the facility in Tucson where the operation was eventually consolidated. The
product line was also expanded to include missile case insulation and high performance
reinforced composite products. We work with most of the standard and exotic materials now
being utilized by the aerospace, defense and commercial marketplace. The company
maintains a complete compounding, mixing and testing capability for rubber materials to
military and commercial specifications. The rubber and reinforced composites can be
processed in matched metal die tooling or fabricated using soft tooling depending on
configuration and quantity requirements.
We offer our customers complete engineering support to assist
with the design and development of new products and services.
Lean manufacturing methods are used throughout our facility to
optimize cycle times, production procedures and control production
costs on an ongoing basis. Our quality assurance is maintained
with an ISO-9002 system. We also work to other customer requirements
as necessary.
We can provide dimensional inspection, materials testing and non-destructive testing
such as x-ray, ultrasonics, dye penetrant and magnetic particle inspection. We also
perform surface treatments which include cleaning, passivation and chem-film. These
capabilities are supported by highly-trained, certified personnel.
The RE Darling Company qualifies
as a small business employing approximately 85 people. Our facility
is located on 17 acres of land with 80,000 square feet under roof
providing ample room to expand.
